David Kopaska-Merkel was grown in a dark moist environment far beneath the surface.... Well, actually, no. Central Virginia was moist often enough, but not especially dark. He now lives in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he describes rocks for the state. He lives with several artists, so naturally he spends most of his spare time writing outré fiction and poetry and publishing the genre poetry magazine Dreams and Nightmares
