Alex Dally MacFarlane

Alex Dally MacFarlane has been writing ever since the discovery of computer games made her think that if stories could be found on a 32-bit cartridge, why not in the mind of an eleven-year-old girl? Now she has finished her BA in War Studies and History at King's College London and from June will be working as a non-fiction editor. Her short fiction has appeared in Behind the Wainscot and Crimson Highway, and is forthcoming in the Sporty Spec anthology edited by Karen A. Romanko.        Roseilda has learned to wield the most basic magics of ink-and-paper coils, at least ready to be initiated and brought to a higher level. But shortly after her initiation she is snatched from her floating town by pirates. Sailed to the vast city of Retyelnen, she is charged with using her power to help steal back an item of great value to the pirate captain, Sashi, or lose her life; but how much can one young girl accomplish?
